Our crazy class from last year's Femme Fatale Saturday Grand Finale! We continue our Femme Fatale Week Grand Finale tradition with Marguerita and Mimosas! Thanks to Billy and the Prime crew for sponsoring the mimosas! Our Grand Finale workout is one of the newest "girls" introduced by CrossFit. This Femme is named for a real-life woman. But, like so many seductive and alluring women, Marguerita's identity remains an irresistible mystery. All we know of her identity is from this very cryptic message from Bingo on the CrossFit mainsite: How cool is this?! A new “Girl”! Gotta confess, I am always more than a little bit extra excited when I do a “Girl” I know, and this Marguerita chick just ROCKS! Clan bingo is chockablock filled with Marguerita fans, and “Marguerita” is a very cool WOD to boot! We're heading to Bozeman Hot Springs tonight to celebrate Femme Fatale Week. Who's joining us? Post to comments if we'll see you out there and/or if you want to carpool.
Marguerita, she first appeared on the CrossFit mainsite on January 15, 2014. Watch the video demonstration.

Today's Femme is traditionally a running workout, you have the option to row today. Woohoooo! It's Friday! We have just one more Femme Fatale tomorrow and we all will have survived our fourth annual Femme Fatale Week. How is Femme Fatale Week gong for you? Are you having fun, hitting PRs, or have you done something Rx'd for the first time? Let us know! Share your experiences in the comments. Today's Femme Fatale was introduced to the CrossFit community on 9 August 2003 and later received her name on 5 November 2003 along with a quote from Helen Keller: "We can do anything we want as long as we stick to it long enough." Perhaps she is named for this intrepid woman? Or perhaps she acquired her name because eleven tropical cyclones in the Western Pacific Ocean have born her name. Today's lady is as much mental as it is physical. It is the only workout that has made me cry. I tackled her about a year into CrossFit and I was struggled to finish. I was the very last person still doing the workout and Matt Conner was yelling "encouragements" at me. I felt my eyes well up with tears and my throat start to constrict. At that moment I decided to tell myself a different story. Instead of thinking, "I'm fat. I'm slow. Everyone thinks I'm a failure," I began to think, "Look how far you've come. just focus on the next rep, your next breath. One rep at a time." That's how I finished the workout, one rep at a time. Today's Femme Fatale is named for the eleventh named storm and fourth hurricane of the 2007 Atlantic hurricane season. She's a mental and physical painstorm. Good luck! She made her CrossFit mainsite debut on August 7, 2008. "And though she be but little, she is fierce." - William Shakespeare
You guessed it! Today's Femme Fatale is FRAN. Of course, we just couldn't ignore the most difficult and alluring of all the CrossFit women. We hope you survive the pain-storm that today's workout is notorious for causing. Fran is meant to be fast, intense, and brutal. It is meant to leave you laying on the floor, gasping for air, looking up at the sky wondering what the heck just happened to you. Coach Glassman tells how he created this workout and how he decided to name his workouts after women. He was so impressed by the devastating simplicity of this workout, he named it using the same convention that the National Weather Services names hurricanes. In fact, today's workout is named for one of the most powerful hurricanes. There will never again be a hurricane using this name. The damage caused by the storm was so severe that the National Weather Service retired the name. We hope you survive the pain-storm that today's workout is notorious for causing. What do you think about Fran? How's your Fran Time? Think you can beat Miranda Oldroyd's time of 2:16, or Garret Fisher's 2:09? What if you scaled it so you could? Fran was introduced to the CrossFit community on November 21, 2004. |
