Brian K., and the rest of the Silver Foxes bust out box jumps. We are so proud of Coach Dover and her Silver Foxes. These folks are improving so fast because Coach Dover is focusing on mobility and mechanics. If you have trouble getting into a good and efficient position overhead, in a squat, or have trouble focusing on your core while hip hinging, you're progress and strength development will be slow, very slow. You simply have to focus on being able to move through the complete range of motion for every movement. As much as I'd like to think that the 10 minutes of mobility we do in every class will totally change your body, it will, but not as quickly if you practice 10 minutes of mobility every day on our own. Lucky for you, every Monday I post a video with a 10 minute mobility practice that you can do on your own. You can do this at home, on a work break, at Goals and Goats or Open Gym. Work on the issues in your tissues and you'll find everything becomes so much easier. Good luck!

Alena swinging the kettlebell American style. It's cold and flu season and already many of us at the gym have been afflicted. When we're sick nothing can make us feel better than a warm and lovely bowl of soup. I really love carrot soup because it's so full of wonderful vitamins and minerals. Ginger carrot is my go to, but sometimes I need to break out of my regular spice routine. I love caraway, yet don't use it much outside of making sauerkraut. I'm eager to make this roasted carrot caraway soup from Well Fed this weekend. I'll probably make a double or triple batch and freeze some in gallon freezer bags for later this winter. Enjoy! |
