Traditionally it's about telling all of those gathered round the table all the ways they've disappointed you over the past year. LOL But I think for "the rest of us" we can make it a time to air any kind of grievances at all. This is your opportunity to sound off in the comments! Just be warned, your Coaches are SO READY for the airing of the grievances! #festivuswod I mentioned on Monday that the Whole Life Challenge is all about learning how to manage stress. Sometimes, unresolved issues and conflicts can be huge stress producers. While, the Festivus airing of grievances is funny, and something we all secretly want to do with everyone in our lives, telling all of the people in our life all the ways they've disappointed us over the past year is not exactly conducive to stress free relationships.
The Whole Life Challenge's weekly lifestyle practices of meditation and journaling can help us get really clear on why we're disappointed and what we want differently. Just 10 minutes a day of quiet contemplation of our thoughts, emotions, assumptions and beliefs can give us insight into what we really value. It can help us tell all of the people in our life what we want and need from our relationships with them. Instead of yelling, "I've got a lot of problems with you people! Meg does a shadowy feat of strength #festivuswod. Festivus, a made-up holiday featured in an episode of Seinfeld, is celebrated December 23rd each year by adoring fans everywhere. We are doing the Festivus Games Official Festivus Holiday WOD on Friday, December 22. The Festivus Games has thrown down a free and just for fun competition. There will be pries for gyms who participate! The Festivus Games folks we'll be watching for any pics of Festivus poles, dinners (meatloaf on lettuce), airing of the grievances, your feats of strength (Festivus WOD!) and any Festivus miracles! Please use the hashtag #festivuswod so they can find any pics of anything related to the day! The second Festivus element, The Festivus Dinner, is meatloaf placed on a bed of lettuce. Totally Paleo! A wall and a few minutes are all you need to take a break from the stress of going here and there and of doing this and that. Managing stress is, probably, the most important healthy lifestyle practice. Managing stress can take many forms, e.g. exercise, mobility, meditation, sleep, temperance with relation to alcohol and sugar, time with friends, reading a good book, watching a favorite movie. Stress management sounds so easy, but it so very difficult to do. One of the best aspects of the Whole Life Challenge is that it provides you with 6 weeks to practice different stress management techniques.
