After the Festivus dinner is served we have the AIRING OF THE GRIEVANCES! Traditionally it's about telling all of those gathered round the table all the ways they've disappointed you over the past year. LOL But I think for "the rest of us" we can make it a time to air any kind of grievances at all. This is your opportunity to sound off in the comments! Just be warned, your Coaches are SO READY for the airing of the grievances! #festivuswod
I mentioned on Monday that the Whole Life Challenge is all about learning how to manage stress. Sometimes, unresolved issues and conflicts can be huge stress producers. While, the Festivus airing of grievances is funny, and something we all secretly want to do with everyone in our lives, telling all of the people in our life all the ways they've disappointed us over the past year is not exactly conducive to stress free relationships.
The Whole Life Challenge's weekly lifestyle practices of meditation and journaling can help us get really clear on why we're disappointed and what we want differently. Just 10 minutes a day of quiet contemplation of our thoughts, emotions, assumptions and beliefs can give us insight into what we really value. It can help us tell all of the people in our life what we want and need from our relationships with them. Instead of yelling, "I've got a lot of problems with you people! And now you're going to hear about it," you can take a deep breath and tell them how much you love them.
