YES! It's Foodie Friday! Coach Leslie is in Orlando this week for the Masters Pan American Olympic Weightlifting Championships. She competes today at 3pm! To celebrate her excellent effort and our jealousy at all the amazing food she will eat this weekend we share this delicious Paleo Cuban bowl from wickedspatula.com. Jon and Noah celebrate their win at the Festivus Games in April. They had no control over their competitors, only themselves, and they focused on what they could control to win!
Every Thursday I write about mental toughness or mindset. Our thoughts are about the only things we can really control in our lives. We can't control other people. We can't control our co-workers. We can't control traffic. We can't control the weather. The only thing we can control is ourselves.
The amazing thing about our thoughts is that we can focus them to actually change our mood! How cool is that? I recently listened to this article on NPR about how we can change our mindset from gloom to gratitude with 8 actionable steps. I like anything that gives me actionable steps with a positive outcome.

Sunshine on My Shoulders Makes me Happy!
Despite the importance of vitamin D, it’s estimated that anywhere from 30% to 80% of the U.S. population is vitamin D insufficient. For us Montanans, we make make absolutely ZERO vitamin D from the sunlight between November and March. Yep - that means unless you're taking supplements in the winter, you're most likely very low on vitamin D.
The good news is that from March - November all we need is 15 mins of mid-day sun to get all the Vitamin D we need. Woohooo! So on our next sunny day (the forecast is for sunshine today:-) get outside for 15 mins. With today's workout that should be no problem!
