2 Points = Officially Register for The Open 5 Points= Complete the Online Judges Course March 12- 26 In Season Points 1 Point = Complete the Open Workout on a Friday 2 Points = Get a PR or do something for the FIRST time 3 Points = Finish in the top of of your division (Rx, Int, Foundations, Masters). You can change divisions week to week. The CrossFit Open is a world-wide online CrossFit competition. This year’s Open will be the most accessible in CrossFit history, with flexible options for participants to compete either at their local gym or at home, with or without equipment.

Set aside at least 20 minutes per day to eat mindfullyby Audy Butler of 406 Barbelle As we work toward better body composition and/or weight loss, there are several basic habits and behaviors that are often overlooked that can have a large impact on our progress. Very often we jump straight to restriction, low calories, and detailed diet plans when there maybe some very simple and easy actions we can take to get us to our goals. As we’ve talked about before, quite simply weight loss requires being in a calorie deficit. So one of the best places to start on a weight loss process is to evaluate our intake. Being mindful about our eating habits can help us do that. Often distracted and rushed eating can lead to ignoring our body’s signals of satiety, leading to unnecessary calorie intake. Want to make a positive impact on your body composition? Pay attention to HOW you’re eating as much as WHAT you’re eating. Here are a few steps you can take right now to avoid overeating and to be more aware of what your body is telling you: 1. Sit down at a table. Easy. 2. Eat without distraction 3. Set down your utensils between bites. 4. Set aside at least 20 minutes to eat mindfully. 5. Choose fibrous foods to fill you up. 6. Chew your food thoroughly 7. Listen for cues of satiety and eat until you’re about 80% full. *Truth bomb: it’s ok to discard of or save food for later that you’re not hungry for. Give just one or two of these a try and watch what a difference you can make without ever “cutting your calories”. The single biggest and most exciting CrossFit event is just one month away! Of course, we're talking about the CrossFit Games Open. The Open is a worldwide CrossFit competition. It's 3 weeks long, and it is a TON OF FUN.
Every Thursday, Starting March 11, CrossFit will release a workout. There will be Rx, Intermediate, Masters, and Foundations versions of the workout. We have until the following Monday to complete the workout and enter our scores. The CrossFit Games Open workout will be the Workout of the Day every Friday starting March 12 and ending March 26th. You're going to do The Open workouts anyway, so you might as well participate in the Intramural Open. The Intramural Open is our in-house event where we support, encourage, count reps and help our teammates do fantastic things. We will divide everyone in the gym into 2 teams based on our birthdate, Team Summer vs Team Winter. Everyone born between March 20-September 21 is on Team Summer. Team Winter is everyone born between September 22 - March 19. Each week we will have a fun theme, you're encouraged to wear costumes, bring treats, and do other fun stuff to make our hour at the gym a big party place every Friday. Let's have some FUN! |
