The WLC folks think this is an important well-being practice because: "While the brain is not technically a muscle, it does need exercise to avoid going “soft.” Just like your body, your brain responds to challenges with new growth — in learning, ability, associations, and facility with different kinds of information. Voluntarily engaging with things you don’t know how to solve easily flips on your creativity and helps you learn to incorporate new ways of understanding the world. You can expect to play some kind of mental game in today's class:-)

Today's WOD might leave bodies on the floor. Good thing we lift each other up at our gym! We are returning to the Age Online Qualifier Workouts. Today we are tackling a long chipper style AMRAP. This AMRAP contains a large volume of jumping rope mixed with mid-volume sets of a variety of exercises. Ideally, each set with the jump rope can be completed unbroken. Reduce the reps and modify the other movements so you can finish each set without too much resting and keep moving for the entire 20 minutes. As we have been doing with all the 2018 AOQ Workouts, we are prescribing the CrossFit Intermediate option. If you can walk on your hands, you're welcome to upscale today. CrossFit also posted a beginner option. You'll see it listed on BTWB. Check out this technique video by the folks at Comp Train Masters for tips on tackling the WOD. Brian F. has excellent overhead squat mobility. Some of us have to work a bit harder to get into a good position, but the work is totally worth it. We spent 28 days in April working on our overhead squat mobility. We threw down a daily mobility challenge and congratulations to our winner, Tami McCauley! Tami did her daily OHS mobility, sent me a photo once of week of her doing her OHS mobility at home, and added 25% to her overhead squat. NICE WORK TAMI! If you missed our April OHS mobility challenge, no worries. Today's Mobility Monday post is from the Barbell Shrugged dudes and it's all about improving your overheard squat. You can expect do to these drills in class today, and if you're super motivated, like Tami, you might even try them at home. Have fun and get ready to overhead squat today. Take a nap today!
