Friday is the FINAL Open workout. Let's get all hands on deck for this one! Remember to represent your team and you might earn this week's Sprit of the Open!
I have written several times about the difference between training, practice and competition. In our group classes and personal training sessions our program focuses on training and practice. However, there is a place and time for competition.
Everyone can benefit from competition. Some people think that competition develops character. I disagree, competition reveals character. We are fully into the CrossFit competition season with The 2024 CrossFit Open. As we have done since 2015, we are hosting a FUN and FRIENDLY Intramural In-Gym Open Competition. Everyone has been divided up into 2 teams, Team DC and Team Marvel, as we battle it out over 3 weeks to see which team has the strongest and fittest heroes and heroines. How did we do with the first week of the Intramural Open? Read below... Intramural Open Week 1

John E. and Missey are sharing the Spirit of the Open points for 24.1. Both of these fantastic masters athletes are recovering from surgeries and are using CrossFit as part of their recovery program.
John did an adaptive version of 24.1 (there are many adaptive versions) to accommodate shoulder surgery. Missey is recovering from major abdominal surgery and did the Foundations version of the workout. The 5 Spirit of the Open Points are split between them and they are both on Team DC. Week 1 Team Points
Both teams were nearly equally represented in the first week of the Open. Team DC has only a 1 point lead for the workout. However, their Pre-Season point lead puts them well ahead of Team Marvel. Will they maintain their lead this week? We shall see!
Remember to represent your team Friday in class! There are 5 Spirit of the Open Points available to whomever has the best spirit! Here is Dave Castro's hint for 24.2. âCrossFit Open Starts NOW!
The Open brings out the best of us and we love seeing everyone do their best. We've seen people get their first pul-ups, muscle-ups, heaviest lifts, etc. Certainly this Open will be no different.
Regardless of fitness level or ability, you can participate in the biggest fitness competition in history. Each week of the Open, choose from three variations of the released test as prescribed, scaled, or foundations. You can finish the Open with any combination of the test variations based on your current ability. Scaled or foundations versions might be best one week, while the Rx'd version might be more your speed the next. We have our own in-house competition with our Intramural Open. Are you on Team DC or Team Marvel? Click here to find out. The Intramural Open is a FREE team event in which we compete against each other. We support, encourage, count reps and help our teammates do fantastic things. You can earn valuable pre-season points NOW for your team. You earn points for your team as follows. Pre Season Points 1.
