Kettlebell swings are an excellent core to extremity exercise. They develop a strong, fast and powerful hip drive. Helen is traditionally performed with an American swing, which is what Doug Larson demonstrates in today's Technique WOD video. If you know that you have reduced shoulder mobility overhead, you should perform a Russian swing. Your coach can help you decide which is best for you.
