Noah and Coach Leslie do synchronized bar facing burpees at the Battle for Quite Waters CrossFit Competition. Today, you're on your own. Good luck!
Today we're are repeating CrossFit Games Open Workout 18.2 as part of our "We're Open in August" Challenge. We like doing this fitness challenge every August (this is our third year) because by now you may have forgotten how much "fun" these workouts are (kind of like how you forget the pain of childbirth), it's the dog days of summer and we need a little kick in the rear to get our fitness routine back in gear, and you may have done these workouts as RX'd or Scaled and you want to try a different version. For example, you did these workouts as Rx'd during The Open to score more points for your Intramural Team, but if you do them scaled you might get further into the workout. Alternatively, you may have done them all scaled and you want to see if you can do the Rx'd weights or movements. Either choice is fine. It's your chance to test your fitness. Be sure watch today's Technique Tuesday video for tips on Open Workout 18.2.

Open Workout 18.2 was programmed by Open Director Dave Castro in a direct response to the trend in some CrossFit affiliates to program a strength workout and a conditioning (MetCon) workout every day. While this programming is fine on occasion, it is not congruent with the CrossFit programming methodology of constantly varied high intensity functional fitness. Dave Castro and many at CrossFit Training are concerned that this trend actually has the opposite intended affect. Most of us (who are not at the Regional level) can't handle that high of volume of training. As a result we are constantly sore, neurologically spent, and can't practice and train as well because we are fatigued. I used to program this way for our gym (in our early days) and all of us Coaches agreed that our clients were not making the gains we saw when we stuck with traditional CrossFit. We have over 2 years of PRs, increased strength and improved conditioning to show us that our programming works. How awesome is that?!?
