Today we are training and practicing the clean and jerk. This Olympic weightlifting movement can be intimidating, so we'll spend lots of time during the warm-up working on your positions. Since we're keeping reps for each set high, you will not get really heavy today, perhaps lifting only as much as 75-80% of your 1 rep max.
Today's technique video is courtesy of US Weightlifting and it nicely breaks down the positions of the each lift. Notice that the first step in the learning progression is the hang power clean. If you have been CrossFitting for more than 3 months, it's time to pull from the floor. If you're still new, you're going to stay at the hang for a little bit longer. Good luck!
