There is no doubt that we are living in strange times and the times, they are a changin'.
Today is Cinco de Mayo a Mexican national holiday to celebrate the Mexican Army's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862. In the U.S. it is a National holiday of drinking and eating Mexican food. I love that our polycultural society celebrates our roots with feasting and drinking. On March 17th we celebrate our Irish roots for Saint Patrick's Day, some of us celebrate our French roots on July 14, Bastille Day, and we drink to our German ancestry during Oktoberfest. Today, Cinco de Mayo falls on another auspicious day celebrating Mexican food, Taco Tuesday. It also falls on a day celebrating a new stay at home holiday, #takeouttuesday. Today, many of us will be making tacos or ordering them from one of our outstanding local restaurants. James and I are picking up an assortment of tacos and a Margarita kit from Nina's Tacos & Tequilla. A few weeks ago we sampled Taco Monte's "Prepper Pack," and we highly recommend it. Our local economy has taken a major hit with the 6 week stay home order. Bars and restaurants are opening as part of the Phase 1 reopen Montana plan, and we need to support them. Today is the absolutely perfect day to give our local restaurants our support.
