I am loving the virtual check-ins I have been conducting this month. It's so great to see everyone's smiling face and to get an update on how you're all doing. I am so impressed by your irrepressible spirit.
We are all facing a common struggle and that's the obliteration of our routine and structure. Before we had to #stayhome we had a daily routine and it provided structure. We did certain things at specific times. Now, we're scrambling to figure out how to eat breakfast and lunch, or drink enough water, or find the time to do these crazy at-home workouts.
Some of us who used to go to the gym at 6am now find it easier to workout in the evening. Some of us have low ceilings and can't put stuff overhead or we live on the second floor and can't jump or we'll disturb the neighbors. Some of use now have toddlers at home all day. Some of us are with our spouses 24/7 and #stayhome feels more like house arrest.
Whatever the novel obstacle we face, it has the same affect, obliteration of our structure.
One way that we can reagin control over our lives and overcome these obstacles is to reestablish a routine. That's why we have 2 Bingo squares that are specific to establishing (or reestablishing) our morning discipline. You are challenged to get up without pressing snooze (for 3 days in a row) and make your bed.
When you press snooze you delay the very first thing you need to do that day, get up. You set yourself up for a cascade of delayed actions. You press pause at the very moment you need to press play. Get up when your alarm goes off. Start your day with an accomplishment.
You'll create some momentum with your second accomplishment of the morning which is to make your bed. Making your bed will change your world. Don't believe me? Watch this motivating speech by Admiral McRaven.
