Today we are testing two of the 2017 Festivus Games Workouts. At the Festivus Games you will be able to do the 500M row anytime before 1pm.
One of the most common errors I see in the clean is not meeting the bar at the height to which it's pulled. Many new lifters, me included, dive into the rock bottom of the front squat only to have the bar come crashing down onto you. I did this is my very first Olympic Weightlifting meet with a 175lb clean. I was essentially cratered onto the platform. I fell on my ass and then head to shake it off, go back out on the platform and repeat the lift. A crashing clean hurts, I know. One way to avoid the crashing clean, is to not be in a rush to get to the bottom of the squat. Trust me, when the weights gets heavy enough, you'll get down there. Be patient and learn to meet the bar, where it is, every time. Watch today's Technique Tuesday video from Catalyst Athletics for a terrific demonstration on what not to do and what to do. Good luck!
