We are in the middle of week 7 of our 8 week Whole Life Challenge. This week's lifestyle challenge is to eat all meals without technological distractions. No cell phone, iPads, TV, nothing except you, your food, your meal companion and perhaps some music. Can you do this? Can you do this alone at a restaurant? I recently challenged myself to eat lunch alone without my iPhone or computer for company. At first I was uncomfortable, but I did three rounds of box breathing and started to relax. I realized I was good company.
There are some folks who believe we are in an age of declining creativity. That we are distracted rather than bored, and it is out of boredom that creativity flows. When was the last time you actually created something? When you're alone do you find something to distract you? Does the idea of sitting alone with just you and your thoughts drive you mad? Perhaps you should look into this a bit more. If you don't want to be alone with you, who will?
