We are training for the Festivus Games today. Meg has competed in the past and Jessie is competing again this year. Are you competing? Coach James is offering a FREE Festivus Games prep clinic for everyone from TSCF who is competing on March 28 10-noon.
Yesterday I wrote about the roles of training, practice and competition in the development of an athlete. Today we are training for the Festivus Games. Training is important because it allows us to TRY in a non-stressful, non-competitive environment. Let's have some fun today with a movement we are learning to love:-)
Part of training for a multi workout CrossFit competition is your refueling and hydration plan. You will complete all 4 Festivus Games workouts in about 4-5 hours and you'll need to learn how much and what kinds of food you can tolerate in between events.
Many of us rely on a post-workout protein shake. However, on a multi-workout competition like the Festivus Games, you'll want some carbohydrates to replenish your glycogen stores and you'll want more calories than your standard protein shake.
Try these delicious shake recipes from Spartan Nutrition. Make one tomorrow morning before you attend the 9am class or run the 10K or Half Marathon for Run to the Pub and drink it after your workout. Then notice how your belly feels. If you don't have any bloating, cramping, or other deleterious effects than you know that this post-workout shake is battle tested and good to go for competition.
Speaking of Spartan, Coach James and Meg are offering a Spartan Race prep course starting Wednesday, March 25. This is a great opportunity to try something new and have some fun with your fitness. We need TWO MORE PEOPLE to greenlight this course.
Festivus Games are still a few weeks away, but the deadline for a free shirt is only 9 days away! Be sure to register for the Games before March 22 to claim your free shirt! Click on the image below to register today!
