Two Femmes!?! It's Tabata and Two-For Tuesday
Every day this week you will meet a different CrossFit Femme Fatale. A Femme Fatale is an irresistible, alluring and seductive woman who leads men into difficult situations. Don't you think that is an appropriate description of the CrossFit "Girl" workouts? They are seductive and alluring and every time we meet them we find ourselves in a difficult situation.
Today's Femmes Fatale are BFFs! They were introduced to the CrossFit community in 2004. Both of these ladies will test of your phosphgen-creatine and glycolytic metabolic pathways.
Did you know that the original CrossFit workouts were given female names, similar to how the US National Weather Service names storms, because the workouts were so physically demanding that they left athletes feeling as though a storm hit them?
Are you ready for today's BFF pain storms?
Isabel, the first of the two were doing today, is named for the strongest Atlantic hurricane of the 2003 hurricane season.
Her best friend, Grace, is named for a short-lived Category 2 hurricane that contributed to the formation of the powerful 1991 Perfect Storm. The potency and disaster of this storm was the subject of Sebastian Junger's book The Perfect Storm, which was later made into a movie.
Both of these ladies are a great test of your accuracy and mental toughness. As you start to fatigue, which you will, your form naturally starts to degrade. Your goal is to find the balance between grit and grace. How fast can you go while still keeping good form?
