Here's a great video on pull-up technique from the dudes at Barbell Shrugged. They have some great tips on using bands to scale pull-ups. They make a great point about which we totally agree, you must be able to do a few deadhang pull-ups before you attempt kipping pull-ups. Yes, we think this is important, even with a band. The bottom of the kipping pull-up puts a force on your shoulder girdle that is 10 times your bodyweight. This is a huge force!
We also like their suggestion to switch your grip on your pull-ups. Try something different today and see if it works better for you. Good luck!
