Today's workout is unique in that we are asking you to use your brain after you have taxed your body with a 12 minute high intensity workout. We got this workout, and the idea of mental toughness training, from Ignite.
The folks at Ignite are developing physical and cognitive training that develops the brain's neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to make structural and operational changes as a result of life experiences. They have found that "a cognitively-enriched environment produces opportunities for long-term brain enhancement. And one of the best things anyone can do to build their cognitive horsepower is constantly varied movement, performed at high intensity across broad time and modal domains."
Lucky for us, that's what we do at True Spirit CrossFit & Yoga. We also believe that doing CrossFit helps develop mental toughness.
Mental toughness is the ability to stay calm and focused during a high intensity and/or stressful event. It is the ability to not get caught up in the emotion of events around you. Mental toughness is the ability to persevere in difficult situations. Mental toughness is something that can be trained and developed.
We are interested in developing and incorporating mental toughness training into our regular CrossFit programming. Some of us are interested in following the mental toughness training of the SealFit program. If you'd like to join our practice group, please contact Coach Leslie.

4 min AMRAP ball slams
4 min AMRAP pullups
4 min AMRAP shuttle runs
4 min AMRAP name as many one-syllable words as possible that rhyme with “JUMP.” Your score is the number of words you write down (there are 22.)
