Meg does a renegade row. Did you get an Instant Pot for Christmas? If you didn't you can get one on an after Christmas sale! Instant Pot's are amazing time saving devices that remind me of R2-D2:-) I use mine every week. I make at least two soups, a big mess of meat, and cook sweet potatoes over the weekend so I have plenty of food for the week. A weekend cook-up is essential to keep my nutrition goals on track. I do a big one on Sunday and a smaller one on Wednesday. I keep easy salad makings on hand all week so I can put together a healthy meal of soup and salad after I get home from the gym. Easy peasy! Enjoy today's Foodie Friday recipe courtesy of one of my favorite food bloggers, Nom Nom Paleo. As always, click on the image for the recipe. Maelin closes her eyes to focus and reduce distractions.
Distractions are everywhere in this world. How many times have you been doing something and then...squirrel! There you go off in a new direction totally losing focus on what you were doing. Distractions are so common that we think they are an unavoidable part of life. IN reality however, distractions are what we make of them. Marcus Aurelius wrote, "The external things whose pursuit or avoidance troubles you do not force themselves on you, but in a way you yourself go out to them. However that may be, keep your judgement of them calm and they too will stay still - then you will not be seen either to pursue or to avoid." Aurelius is saying that it is our reaction to the distraction that makes it a thing. If you can keep your mind calm and focus on the present the distraction will not develop into anything. I see this all the time in the gym with regards to music. We coaches are often asked to turn it up, turn it down or turn it to a new song. What is there was not any music? Could you still work out with the same intensity? Is the music a distraction that hinders or helps you? What if it didn't matter at all? Share with us in the comments how you manage distractions. Coach Zach, Matt and Meg have fun working out!
Today is Boxing Day. We have only 2 classes today, 6AM and 10:30AM. Boxing Day is a traditional British holiday and has its origins in the 17th century. The exact origin of the holiday is not clear, however it is traditionally a day when service workers are given presents from those they serve. The contemporary circle of service workers has expanded to include postal workers, paper deliverers, CrossFit coaches, etc. We will celebrate Boxing Day much more literally with actual boxes. Be sure to join us today for some good British fun! We have our regular class schedule Thursday - Saturday and again have only two classes, 6AM and 10:30AM next Monday, Dec 31 and Wednesday, Jan 2. Hope everyone had a great Christmas! You have a few more opportunities to make the December Committed Club. Congratulations to Jessie and Heather Red Feather who are the only 2 people who have made the Committed Club every month in 2018. Way to go ladies! |
