It was a packed house for the initial Spring WLC workout test.
Today and tomorrow we are retesting our Spring Whole Life Challenge workout. Be sure to complete this workout, remeasure yourself and take post-challenge photos. If you can't make it to class today, contact Coach Leslie and make alternate arrangements. Coach Noah is leading the Saturday 9am class and can accommodate a few WLC participants. Today's Workout Spring Whole Life Challenge workout retest Tabata Something Else 8 rounds of 20sec work:10sec rest of the following Pull-ups Push-ups Sit-ups Squats No rest in between movements. Complete all 8 rounds of one movement before moving onto the next. Be sure to use the same exact scaling and modifications you used for the initial workout. Coach Kristine encourages Coach Leslie to get under the bar with this 150# snatch.
Today we continue with our snatch skill work. Last week we introduced the snatch balance and snatch pulls. These accessory snatch exercises help develop confidence and speed getting under the bar. Today you get to work on getting under the bar with the full expression of the snatch, the squat snatch. Getting under the bar to receive the snatch in a squat takes confident, commitment and use of your fast twitch muscles. If you can get confident quickly reversing direction to receive the snatch, you will develop better balance and reaction skills. These skill are directly transferrable to sports like soccer, ultimate frisbee, and other activities where you have to reverse and change direction quickly. Good luck! We are in our final week of our 8 week Spring Whole Life Challenge. We will repeat our challenge workout, Tabata Something Else, and take our measurements this Friday and Saturday. If you are unable to make it to class these two days, please contact Coach Leslie to make other arrangements. This week's lifestyle challenge is to deliver or mail a handwritten note. The challenge started on Saturday and is particularly timely with Father's Day on Sunday. A handwritten note has such different value than a text, email or phone call. A handwritten note allows the sender to slow down and be particularly thoughtful in what they write. The receiver of the note knows just how much care and thought went into the sentiment. Who doesn't like to receive a handwritten note? When was the last time you communicated in writing, in actual hand writing. It just feels different. Perhaps a bit old fashioned. In our busy life, slowing down and doing something for quality is an important lifestyle practice. Our next Whole Life Challenge starts September 19. We hope you join us!
