Good habits take practice and, according to the most recent Chasing Excellence podcast, they are best developed through a reminder, routine and reward. Sleep, hydration, nutrition, mobility and exercise are 4 very important habits that I often write about. It's no surprise that improving these lifestyle practices will make you happy and healthy. But, how do you create the daily habit? You develop a reminder, routine and reward.
Yesterday I showed you the Lifestyle tracking feature on Beyond the Whiteboard. Logging in daily and recording your lifestyle habits will develop your routine and reward you with points. But, you do you create a reminder for your good lifestyle practices? Use your phone to schedule your exercise and mobility and to set reminders or notifications for eating and drinking. Did you know you can customize the notifications in your gym profile and sync your class schedule to your calendar? Yep, it's true. Here's how you do it.
On your phone, go to www.truespiritcrossfit.pike13.com and log into your account. Click on "Your Stuff" in the right hand corner. Scroll down and click on "Subscribe to Calendar." Read the notes and click on the I Understand blue button. Now, when you schedule yourself for class it will show up on your preferred calendar.
Now, let's schedule your classes. You can enroll yourself as far into the future as you like. I absolutely love it when I see people enrolled in a month of classes. I know they are committed to a consistent CrossFit routine and I know they will be happier people because of their consistency. To enroll in a class, click on "Menu" in the upper left corner, then click on "Schedule." Select the class you want to enroll into and you're in! Now, your gym account will automatically sync to your calendar and your gym time is scheduled.
Congrats! You've just established a routine and a calendar reminder. However, you can personalize your settings to give you notification reminders of your class enrollments to add even more potency to your newly developed routine. To get these set up go back to "Your Stuff," scroll down and select "Notifications." Select the "Settings" tab on the right side of the screen. Now you can select when you receive text notifications and for which things you want to be notified. Scroll down to access settings for your Billing and, most importantly, customize your notification settings for Scheduling. Once you've established those, continue to scroll down to customize your notifications for Your Profile. Oftentimes, Coaches send Notes to you and your class through your profile. Now, you can get those notes texted to you. Congratulations! You have now established reminders and a routine.
