Tomorrow marks our 6th anniversary. We made it past the 5 year mark, that important milestone that makes or breaks most small business. I am so proud and grateful grateful for all of our amazing members and excited for what the future holds. It seems appropriate to pay all of these good feelings forward to celebrate our 6th anniversary. That’s where "FIT IT FORWARD" comes in. This week, we’re asking for some random (and some not-so-random) acts of kindness. You’ll get a daily challenge that doesn’t appear to have much to do with your fitness. It does. When you realize that GIVING and SHARING make you happier than receiving possibly could, then you’ve got a way to make yourself happy for life. To get the most from our Fit it Forward challenges, you’ll want to remain anonymous, except for Friday, the last challenge day (more on that later). For example, your first challenge is an easy one: buy a stranger a coffee. If you’re shy, you don’t need to be seen. You’re not looking for acknowledgement, after all. On the other hand, I want to know–and I want you to see–how much ‘happy’ we’re putting into our local community this week. All of you buying coffee for strangers might just make the sun shine a little brighter in Bozeman, or coldsmoke come down on Bridger Bowl, or something. It will sure make US feel good to be part of such a big movement. So let’s identify ourselves without sharing specifics. Change your Facebook profile picture to the one below. You can click on the image to make it bigger if you like. When your friend asks what the heck it means, tell them. Maybe we’ll start a landslide. Friday's Fit it Forward Finale
If you’re happy about your TSCF experience, or joyful because of your amazing fitness, you don’t have to hand out our business cards. You don’t have to refer seven others. Instead, I want you to teach your best friend to squat. If you care about them, teach them how to do an honest-to-God, heels-down, hips-back SQUAT. This shared model of fitness–I teach you, you teach a friend, and we can all play–is the inspirational part of CrossFit. It’s the difference between the ingredients and the cake. Fun and learning: that’s what all other programs are lacking, what you can’t get at home, and what you can’t explain if you haven’t done it with us. Most days, I can’t believe non-CrossFit gyms are still in business. And that guy teaching “crossfitness?” Don’t get me started. The beauty of CrossFit isn’t the colorful bumper plates, or women doing pull-ups. It’s not even the “WOD.” The beauty is, “Let me show you how to squat, friend.” The beauty is CARING. We care enough to learn more, to tell you when you can do better, to share. And everyone can share. Can you think of a better gift to give your best friend, your husband, your boss? I can’t. I’ll even give you a prize. Post a picture of your friend squatting to our Facebook community page Friday, or email it to me, and they can do Foundations for free ($250 value.) It has to be good–you’ll have to teach them–and it has to be Friday. But if they do one good squat, they come to True Spirit for free.
