Today we are doing the Baseline. For many of us, the baseline was the first CrossFit workout we ever did. It was for me and I have repeated it 14 times. I did my first Baseline on March 19, 2010 as part of my free Intro. It took me 9:39 and I had to use a green band for the pull-ups. I did my first Rx'd Baseline 5 months later on October 27, 2010, just 3 days after my 39th birthday in 5:54. My fastest ever Baseline was 4:32 on May 19, 2017 at 46 years old. I share my Baseline stats with you for several reasons. 1. You can get stronger, faster and fitter as you age. I started CrossFit when I was 38 and I'm way fitter now at 47 then when I started. 2. It's powerful and important to record your score on BTWB or something else that you can easily review. Reviewing my Baseline scores was not only fun, but it motivates me to keep going to the gym and working out. Yes, even as a gym owner this is a challenge at times. 3. While I quickly gained the ability to do pull-ups and other things as Rx'd, as I get fitter the gains and PRs come less easily and they require more work. It's super fun to be a beginner CrossFitter because you PR and improve almost every month. After you've been doing it as long as me, or Matt Conner (who just had his 10 year CrossFit anniversary) you have to work harder for those PRs or you just have to decide that where you are is good enough. Really, where you are is good enough. Join us tomorrow at 9am for our Holiday PR Brunch Party! Before we attempt our PRs we will all pull a pair of socks from the bag.
You get one steal for every PR you attain. One pair of socks can only be stolen 3 times. We will steal socks and eat drink and be merry at about 11AM. Chipotle has donated a box of burritos for our brunch and we will serve coffee and FItAid mimosas. Please feel free to bring a brunch item to share if you like.
