Coach Micah, Cpl Johnsrud, served 5 years in the US Marine Corps. He enlisted in 2012 and went to boot camp at MCRD San Diego. Being from Kansas he found the ocean fascinating and in fact would spend his entire enlistment on the West Coast. The only time he wasn't in California was when attended A School for Signals Intelligence at Air Force Base Goodfellow in Texas. After that, he attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterey where he became a Russian linguist. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton where he completed the Basic Reconnaissance Course and was assigned to the Reconnaissance Platoon, 1st Radio Battalion. He did a tour aboard the USS Boxer (LHD4) with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
